Network map shows white circle, No documentation found.

Hi guys,

Today i opened op my Network Map to see an overview of virtual servers. One of the virtual servers showed an white circle. I think this is a reference to an iRule, however there is no documentation at all on the F5 support website.

Is this only an indicator for the presence of an iRule, or does this has to do with the status of this virtual server and its resources ?

Below i have added a screenprint.

Best regards,

  • Roy,

Thank you for the question. I've done a bit of research on this and I have found this white circle is representing the presence of the irule. Because the irule can't be monitored with a health check, its status appears differently than the other objects listed in the network map. A virtual server will inherit its status from the pool associated with it. In the case where there is no pool and/or the pool doesn't have a health check associated, the virtual server will show as unknown/unchecked as indicated by a blue square.

  • This is just the way an iRule is displayed. The different colors indicate the status of the object based on the monitors applied. There is no way to monitor an iRule so it doesn't give it a color.
