Issue with having Multiple Floating IP addresses

We have a HA setup and one of the VLAN having 2 Floating IP's.

Traffic Flow:
Client >> GTM >> LTM >> FireWall >> Appln/server

Issue as we have observed is:

when Device-A is active, it uses floating IP 10.1.1.10 to reach the backend server but failing.

When we failover and make Device-B as active, it uses floating IP 10.1.1.9 to reach the same backend server and works.

Would like to understand what is the behaviour when multiple floating IP's are available?

In what order does the available floating IP be chosen? and why does the active and standby chose different floating IP to reach server.

  • there are no special thing regarding fip1 or fip2.
as tcp only has 65535 ports, hence f5 will need more than 1 fip if number of tcp sessions between f5 and a pool member exceeds 65535.

your firewalls and app servers should treat fip1 and fip2 similarly.

If the connections are less and if the TCP ports are not exhausted, it's expected that the same floating IP should be used by both the devices right?
